Thankful Thursday

Guess who is in Dallas?

Mrs. Troop!!!

I got a babysitter (baby girl came with us) and we had a girls morning out! How fun is that!?!

So here goes my Thankful Thursday list.

1. Thankful that my husband let me get a babysitter so I could spend the day with my friend!
2. Thankful for healthy kids.
3. Thankful that my Grandpa is out of the hospital and my Grandma seems to be doing better.
4. Thankful that my kids are such great helpers.
5. Thankful for a good car with air conditioning. It's getting hot in Texas.
6. Thankful for the neighborhood pool.
7. Thankful for all the ladies that come to the Thursday night Book Club.
8. Thankful that baby girl has such good gross motor skills. Not thankful that she is pulling things out of cabinets just as fast and hard as she can... but that isn't covered under this particular list.
9. Thankful for a great Growth Group (our church's term for Sunday School) who are so very giving and so quick to respond when a need comes up.
10. Thankful for my new purse I got at Sam Moon today! (just being completely honest here) It is huge and has enough room for my normal purse stuff, plus the baby stuff, plus a diet coke and a good book. :)

Have a great Thursday!

Those 5 dreaded words

"Mom, I lost the snake!"

The plan was to relocate the snake to another biome (or just our neighborhood park) this morning. My son went to check on him and discovered the escape. Once I inspected the holding box and discovered exactly how much vegetation (sticks and grass and leaves) had been added to make the snake feel more comfortable and at home, it became clear how easy his departure was. They even added a shell with a little water in it just in case he got thirsty.

And now he is gone.

And it has somehow taken away my joy in weeding my flowers.

I've been told, "the snake is more afraid of you than you are of it" but that just honestly doesn't make me feel any better.

On another note, if you know me very well, you will know that sometimes my attempts at levity are to distract myself from the craziness of everything going on in life.

Currently, both my Grandma and Grandpa are the in hospital. They are even in the same room. How sweet is that? My Grandma has a pulmonary embolism and my Grandpa just got a pacemaker put in. There is really nothing I can do for them at this point except send flowers and pray. I don't think driving 10 hours and showing up with myself and 4 kids will really be a help to anyone. :) So sometimes it is just easier for me to see the humor in life, trust God for His perfect will, and pray.

Anyways, as always, I would appreciate any prayers for my Grandparents. Or for the imminent departure of the viper from my backyard. Or both.

Thanks!

I'm starting a Wildlife Relocation Program

.... as soon as my husband gets home!

It's honestly not the baby bunnies that bother me. They are leaving my annuals alone this year (they apparently don't like Lantana) and even though they have made themselves quite at home in my backyard and on my backporch, I'm actually enjoying seeing them around.

The leopard geckos running amuck are amusing and the kids love catching them. They are more then welcome to stay.

The baby red tailed hawk that took a rest on our back fence was beautiful and we were sad to see him leave.

Even the baby mockingbird that keeps flying into our garage is sweet. We just have to keep sending him out.

It's the baby snakes that we found on our front walk way this morning that will be immediately and promptly relocated at my husband's earliest convenience. Have I mentioned how much I dislike snakes? And the fact that there were two means there must be more. (one we found was DOA - dead on arrival of the FedEx truck- ha ha ha ha ) (I know, it's probably wrong that finding the creature and then realizing it was dead should fill me with such happiness) (just being honest here) And that fact that there are more means there must be a mama around. Ack!

He is currently being safetly contained on the backporch and my son is trying to figure out what type of habitat he would enjoy and what we could feed him.
That does not help me.
So I'm off to Walmart to buy mothballs. I've heard they keep away snakes.
I'll let you know how that works out for me!
